Celebrate the Claremont Foreshore with A Day on the Bay

A Day on the Bay is back for its fourth year, bringing a day of family-friendly entertainment to the picturesque Claremont foreshore. 

Designed to activate the Claremont waterfront, the event celebrates the foreshore as a cherished natural and community asset. 

Attendees can enjoy a variety of water- and land-based activities, including swan boat rides, pirate and mermaid meet and greets, a woodwork experience, live music and performances. 

There will also be stalls from the Royal Life Saving Society, BirdLife, Western Metropolitan Regional Council and DBCA River Guardians. 

With interactive experiences and educational activities, A Day on the Bay offers a meaningful way for people of all ages to connect with nature and the community. 

Mayor Peter Telford said A Day on the Bay was a celebration of one of Claremont's most valued natural and community assets. 

"Our river and foreshore are an important part of what makes Claremont such a special place to live, and A Day on the Bay is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and enjoy them," Mayor Telford said. 

"It's also a chance to learn more about our local environment and the simple things we can do to help protect the river for future generations. 

"I encourage families to come down, enjoy the activities and entertainment, and spend a great day together by the water," he added. 

A Day on the Bay is supported by funding from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions' (DBCA) Plastic Free Riverpark Program, helping to reduce single-use plastic on the day through the message: "Choose to Reuse. Keep litter out of our rivers." 

A selection of food and beverage vendors will be serving up treats throughout the day. Visitors can help reduce waste and support a cleaner environment by choosing reusable food and drink containers when purchasing from vendors. After use, items can be returned to the Go2Cup waste collection station. 

Eventgoers are strongly encouraged to bring their own water bottles, with free refills available throughout the event. In keeping with the event's sustainability focus, walking or cycling to the foreshore is also encouraged. 

A Day on the Bay will be held on Sunday 18 October, from 10am - 2pm at Mrs Herbert's Park. The event is free and open to the whole community.
