At the Ordinary Council Meeting on 27 June 2023, Council resolved to adopt the Town of Claremont Animal Local Law 2023.

The Animal Local Law 2023 was published in the Government Gazette on Friday 28 July 2023 and will be operational from Friday 11 August 2023.

The local law repeals the Town of Claremont Dogs Local Law 2012 in entirety and clause 65 of the Town of Claremont Health Local Laws 1997 in relation to the keeping of cats.

The purpose of the Animal Local Law 2023 is to provide for the regulation, control and management of the keeping of dogs and cats within the district. The effect of the Animal Local Law 2023 is that persons who own or keep cats or dogs within the district are required to comply with the provisions of the proposed local law.

Copies may be inspected at or obtained from the Town’s Administration Building at 308 Stirling Highway, Claremont WA 6010 or viewed on the Town’s website here.
