Borrowing from the Library

Claremont residents have automatic access to any Western Suburbs Library, which includes; Claremont, Subiaco, Nedlands, Mt Claremont and The Grove. A library membership is free and open to all members of the community who are residents of WA. Your Claremont library card gives you access to services and facilities at all five libraries.

To join the library you will need to:

  • Complete the application form at the library or join online to become an eMember.
  • Provide photographic ID and a document showing your current address.

If you are over 18 years of age, you can join online. Alternatively, you may fill out an application form in person at your nearest library. Children under the age of 16 will require a parent or guardian to attend the library with them to complete the membership. You will need to present your membership card in order to borrow items or to use the Library's online resources.

Joining the library

Joining online will create an electronic membership which can be used to borrow eBooks and access our other online resources including:

  • eBooks and eAudiobooks from Bolinda BorrowBox and Libby
  • eMovies from Kanopy
  • Online databases and learning tools including Transparent Languages to Niche Academy

To borrow physical items, you must come to the library and provide proof of your current address (e.g. a driver's license) to complete your membership and obtain a library card.
