Library

The Bay View Community Centre's library also cooperates with its neighbouring libraries; Grove Library, Nedlands Library and Subiaco Library - known as the Western Suburbs Library Group. With a combined library catalogue and loans system, and a common membership database, members joining at any library automatically become members of all libraries, with free access to a much wider selection of books and other resources from all Western Suburbs Group libraries.

Home Energy Kit

The Town is excited to be partnering with Switch Your Thinking to deliver their Energy Efficiency Program. This program will help to save energy, lower power bills and reduce environmental impacts. These Energy Kits are free-to-loan and are now available at the library. Reservations can be made here

Each energy audit kit includes:

  • A thermal imaging camera to help you locate draughts around your home and gaps in insulation, for checking fridge seals and measuring hot water temperature.
  • A plug-in energy monitor for measuring energy consumption and the running cost of appliances.
  • A basin flow measuring cup to determine the water flow rate of your taps.
  • A thermometer for measuring the temperature of rooms, fridges and freezers.
  • An instructional manual which explains how to conduct a variety of tests, tips to reduce your energy and water use, instructions on how to use the equipment and safety information. Many kits will also contain information and resource specific to your local area.
