Lake Claremont Dog Exercise Area Expansion

The Town of Claremont is expanding the off-lead dog exercise area at Lake Claremont. 

Town of Claremont Mayor Peter Telford said the expansion would provide more space for dogs and their owners while protecting the environmental values of Lake Claremont. 

"Lake Claremont is one of our community's most popular recreation spaces, and this expansion strikes a practical balance between providing more room for responsible dog exercise while protecting the environmental values that make the lake so special," Mayor Telford said. 

Over the coming months, the expanded area will be marked with logs, new tree plantings and signage. As Lake Claremont is a registered place of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage (ACH ID 3762), the Town will seek approval from the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH) under regulations 7 and 10 of the Aboriginal Heritage Regulations 1974 (AHR) to install new signage and relocate existing signage to mark the extended off-lead dog exercise area. These works will be completed once approval has been granted.

Community Safety Officers will be in attendance to patrol the area and ensure dogs remain under effective control while on and off lead at Lake Claremont and surrounding areas. 

All dogs must be on a leash in public places unless they are within a designated off-lead dog exercise area, as show on the Town's Dog Exercise Areas Map.
