Claremont McKenzie Pavilion Redevelopment

The Claremont McKenzie Pavilion Redevelopment has been completed and officially opened 15 February. The new Pavilion will provide a modern, safe multipurpose facility for use by sporting clubs as well as the wider Claremont community.

The new building has replaced the former aging facility and have added the much-needed female change rooms and a fully accessible adult change facility, a welcome addition to the area.

Predominately used throughout the year by the Claremont Nedlands Cricket Club and Westside Wolves Hockey Club, the new build features a display honouring namesake Graham McKenzie, former test player.

The landscaping around the building has been enhanced by a sculpture by local artist Simon Youngleson. The 2.4m artwork was funded as part of the Town’s Percent for Art Scheme.

The project was supported by a $1,000,000 grant from Federal Government through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, and the State Government’s CSRFF program.

Claremont Mayor Jock Barker said the pavilion is incredible and thanked the government for support of the project.

“This new facility will be enjoyed for years to come and will provide great opportunities for local aspiring sports stars,” he said.

“The grants have been paramount in enabling the Town to achieve such an incredible facility and I would like to thank the state and federal government for their contribution and congratulate all involved.”
