Town of Claremont is inviting the community to come and celebrate the natural beauty of Lake Claremont as part of Sustainable September.
The annual Celebrate Lake Claremont event will be brimming with family-friendly and sustainably focussed activities and entertainment on Sunday 18 September 2022.
Mayor Jock Barker said the annual event would host a great range of activities for children and adults while providing education on sustainability, local wildlife, and the history of the surrounding areas.
“We are so lucky to have a Conservation Category Wetland like Lake Claremont within our community,” Mayor Barker said.
“The Lake supports an abundance of flora and fauna and the Celebrate Lake Claremont event is a wonderful way to enjoy everything the Lake has to offer, while learning more about how to live sustainably.”
Children’s activities include train rides around the lake, exciting wildlife encounters with Animal Ark, woodwork stations with Joys of Wood, a community art workshop with Anne Gee, face painting and more.
On the main stage, guests will be able to dance and sing the morning away with the Queen Bee and Flower Faerie from the Eco Faeries, salute to the sun with Tamara Yoga’s kid-friendly yoga class, or simply enjoy the live entertainment with a picnic lunch under the shady trees.
The trade village will host a range of sustainable stalls with products such as organic chocolates, sustainable kitchenware, second-hand clothing and natural pet and body products just to name a few.
In the sustainability village, visitors will be able to learn a wealth of recycling and waste wise knowledge from WMRC, EarthWise and Friends of Lake Claremont.
A range of food vendors will provide great lunch and snack options including bagels, pizza, paella, ice-cream, and the daily coffee hit from Pedalling Beans.
Celebrate Lake Claremont is a plastic free event, and the community are encouraged to bring along their keep-cups and drink bottles to fill up at the refillable drink stations.
