Town of Claremont will be celebrating their senior citizens next month with a schedule of events to run as part of WA Seniors Week from 6 to 13 November 2022.
The Town’s Seniors Week celebration program for the ‘young at heart’ includes Share your Story oral history session, aqua aerobics and yoga as well as a Grand Story Time and intergenerational fun to celebrate with those younger family members as well.
Mayor Jock Barker said that with more than 30 per cent of the Town’s demographic over the age of 60, the Town fosters social inclusion of its older citizens, providing events and services to keep seniors active and connected within the community.
“We’re proud to celebrate seniors during Seniors Week, but our commitment to Claremont’s older residents doesn’t end there,” Mayor Barker said.
“We run and support a number of year-round programs and activities specifically for seniors, along with talks, workshops and other events that help the wider Claremont community integrate and socialise together.”
With an event happening each day, the Seniors Week Program will have something for everyone – including keeping the body active with yoga and aqua aerobics or fueling the mind with Share Your Story oral histories and a Grand Story Time.
The week will also host the second edition of Claremont Meanders Guided Walking Tours throughout the Town. The Rediscovering the Terrace tour will delve into the stories of the people and businesses that surround Bay View Terrace.Claremont Meanders is organised quarterly by the Town of Claremont for residents to experience history in a different way.
