After 16 years at the helm, Jock Barker has not been returned to position of Mayor of the Town of Claremont following the 2025 local election count.
Claremont’s longest serving Mayor, Barker is immensely proud of his contribution to the community.
“I feel honoured to have been chosen to represent the community that I live in and love, and I leave the position knowing I have fulfilled my duties in a respectful and courteous way”.
Barker was defeated by former councillor Peter Telford, who will take over as Mayor from Wednesday 22 October.
Shelly Hatton will also leave her position, having been defeated by new-comer Ryan Fernandes.
Former elected members Paul Kelly, Jill Goetze & Sara Franklyn have been re-elected for a further 4-year term at the Town of Claremont.
