WA multidisciplinary artist James Giddy has been selected as the mentor for the Town's upcoming youth mural mentorship.
With a background in watercolour painting, James takes inspiration from the natural environment and surroundings for his artwork, and his works can be seen throughout Australia as well as in America, South Africa, Indonesia and India.
James said that he's excited to engage with and guide a young artist through the mural painting process.
"It's such a good initiative to help show an aspiring artist what is involved beyond the painting, often an unknown and daunting process for someone with little experience," James said.
"Murals changed my life and have facilitated me to have a career as a full-time artist, there's nothing better than getting a blank wall as your canvas and scaling up your design onto it," he added.
This new mural will be painted on the front façade of the Claremont Aquatic Centre.
Expressions of Interest are currently open for mentees, with residents aged between 16 - 25 years old encouraged to apply.
Submissions close Wednesday 14 January 2026 at 4pm, with the project planned to start on or before March 2026.
